How to use the duplicate line remover & sorter

How it works

Each line of your pasted text is treated as one item. Duplicates are removed keeping the first copy, blank lines can be dropped, and the cleaned list can be sorted alphabetically in either direction. The counter under the button tells you exactly how many lines went in and how many came out.

Everyday uses

Hashtag banks with accidental repeats, keyword and topic lists, names collected from comments or giveaways, product SKUs, and any spreadsheet column you need deduplicated without opening a spreadsheet.

Example

The sample list of 7 lines (with apples and bananas each appearing twice, plus a blank line) cleans down to 4 lines: apples, bananas, cherries, dates.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a duplicate?

Lines that match exactly, including spaces, are duplicates. Tick "Ignore letter case" if "Apple" and "apple" should count as the same line. Leading and trailing spaces on each line are always trimmed before comparing.

Does removing duplicates keep the first or last copy?

The first occurrence stays, in its original position, unless you also choose to sort the result.

What happens to blank lines?

With "Remove blank lines" ticked, empty lines are dropped. Without a sort, kept blank lines stay where they were (when the option is off) so you can preserve paragraph spacing.

Can I clean a really long list?

Yes. The tool runs in your browser and comfortably handles lists of thousands of lines, such as hashtag banks, keyword lists, and email exports you are tidying by hand.

Is my list uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser only.
